Dinner on Christmas Eve 2024
A feast of a six course dinner of mulled wine, mocktails & blinis; poppadums with10 pickles & chutneys; a traditional herbal soup; ten curries with black & white rice; 3 puddings & natural digestif tea.
Invented by the Dutch in Java and exported to Sri Lanka in 1640, The Rijsttafel Rice Feast was the meal for special occasions. Focused on the fruits of the countryside, it was enthusiastically adopted by the British from 1801; and is the inspiration for our own leisurely and abundant Christmas Eve dinner,made-to-order, & unprocessed as with all our cooking.
